THE YOUNG COURTS
The Young Courts, known also as the Dream Courts, are a few thousand years old at most. Some of their number are truly ancient; others are young fae who have never known humans before the age of cities and science. Regardless, all are drawn to human habitations far from wild places.
CLAY
Pact: Enchantments
Geas: Finish your work
Colour: Terracotta and bronze; rounded and Grecian, golems and goblins.
Emblem: Amphora
The Court of Clay is the oldest of the Young Courts, thought to have been formed in ancient Mesopotamia, guided in no small part by the Court of Staves, an alliance which continues to this day. These goblins speak softly, but their words carry the weight of earth and water.

MAGMA
Pact: Empowering/eroding
Geas: Leave nothing on your plate
Colour: Obsidian, dark red and glowing orange; slabs and power.Â
Emblem: Volcano
The Court of Magma is an enigma, possessed of no intrinsic power of its own, but able to amplify or diminish the powers of others. Their startling appearance and curious nature leads many to speculate that they have a stronger connection than most to the Duke of Hell, though they pay their tithes as dutifully as any other court.
SMOKE
Pact: Illusions
Geas: Smokescreen
Colour: Black, charcoal grey and flashes of colour, veils and gauze. Chiffon, muslin.Â
Emblem: An empty circle
The Court of Smoke is a court of illusion, of deception, of smoke and mirrors. Some see the hand of these goblins in the modern era of disinformation and fake news — an allegation which they of course deny.

METAL
Pact: Machines
Geas: Care for the cogs
Colour: Brass, bronze and steel, neatly etched
Emblem: Cogwheel
The Court of Metal are born of the turning cog, the ticking clock, the steam engine and the waterwheel. In its complex interlinking parts is the universe in microcosm, and the Metal Goblins alone understand the difference that a single cog can make to the grand design.

LIGHTNING
Pact: Inspiration, science
Geas: Lightning strikes and vanishes
Colour: Ice blue, silver and gold; straight and jagged lines. Cybergoth gone weirder.
Emblem: Lightning bolt
The Court of Lightning is only a few centuries old, having been born in the age of galvanism and only grown in strength since then. Vivid, mercurial and ambitious, they know that the world is a place of wonder and discovery, and their duty is to guide mortals to even greater discoveries — regardless of the price.
